U.S. WOMAN CHARGED WITH TREASON

WASHINGTON. September 10. A Federal grand jury to-day indicted Mildred Elizabeth Gillars—“Axis Sally,” of the Nazi radio—on charges of treason.

The 47-y ear-old American was charged with making war-time propaganda broadcasts for the Germans. The indictment cited 10 instances when Gillars allegedly made the broadcasts over the German radio as part of the Nazi propaganda campaign against the United States. The indictment stated that broadcasts originated from Chartres, Paris, Hilversum, and Berlin.
