ANOTHER FIRE AT WINDERMERE
The fire which burned out a plantation of young pinus insignis trees and half a second plantation of older, windblown trees on the west side of the main railway line at Windermere on Thursday afternoon broke out again about 1 a.m. yesterday. The additional damage was negligible. The alarm was given by a passing motorist who saw the flames gathering strength near where the original outbreak began and taking a hold of the section of the plantation which was not burned in Thursday’s fire. The Ashburton County Council’s fire tender was sent to the .fire, which was put out in two hours.
