Dissatisfaction with the playing of the New Zealand championship tournament in November was expressed by Mr A. R. Blank. November was too late in the year for the contestants who had been playing through the winter and then had to face almost summer conditions, he said. The date for the tournament was too close to Christmas and prevented university students from taking part because of examinations. King’s Birthday or .rt. ou S Day week-ends would be more suitable dates, said 'Mr Blank. Mr Hamilton said the matter had been discussed at the last meeting of the New Zealand Council, and It was decided to make no recommendation until the report of this meeting was received. Now the association was incorporated it was essential that inter-club tournaments in country zones be arranged, said Mr Johnston.
