HOCKEY
NO TEAM FOR OLYMPIC GAMES Because of the heavy financial commitments which would be involved, it was decided not to send a New Zealand hockey team to the Olympic Games, at a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association. The question of alterations to the boundaries of the Auckland and Waikato associations was discussed, and as neither associattion had replied to earlier correspondence, it was decided to ask tne delegates from the two associations to write to their associations bringing the matter before a delegates’ meeting in February. It was reported that the 1947 rule book issued by the International Hockey Board contained no mention of the experimental penalty corner rule. It was decided to ask the Australian Hockey Association to inform ,the New Zealand Association of its views on the rule, and to bring the matter before the delegates in February.
