HUNGER STRIKE AT U.S. PRISON
(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 8. Resentful of the meatless Tuesdays aqd eggless Thursdays introduced at the McNeil Island Federal Penitentiary under President Truman’s food conservation programme, 250 of the 1300 inmates nave begun a hunger strikp. They have not resorted to violence apd are carrying out their normal duties. An official said that it was, nqt an insufficiency of food but the frequent serving of meat and egg substitutes that had caused the trouble.
