BY-ELECTION IN WESTLAND
LABOUR CANDIDATE WITHDRAWS
RESULT OF ILLNESS (P.A.) GREYMOUTH. October 29. Taken suddenly ill to-day, Mr Robert Ware, who had been selected as the Labour candidate for the Westland by-election, was advised by his doctor not to undertake the election campaign. Consequently he has withdrawn from the contest. The announcement of Mr Ware s withdrawal was made this evening by the Westland Labour Representation Committee, which stated that the selection of another candidate to replace Mr Ware was receiving the attention of the committee ana the national executive of the Labour Party. Mr Ware was to haye opened lus campaign at Ngahere this evening, but the meeting was cancelled. POLL ON PECEMBER 3 (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 29. Polling day for the Westland byelection will be Wednesday, December 3. The writ will be issued on Wednesday, November 12, and the roll will close at 6 p.m. on that day. Nominations will close on Tuesday, November 18.
