RED CROSS SOCIETY The Lyttelton Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society has made grants to the men of the Burwood Plastic Unit, to the International Red Cross, to the New Zealand Headquarters, and to the soldiers’ parcel fund, according to the report presented at the annual meeting of the sub-centre this week. Cakes had been provided for soldier patients at Hanmer. Members were asked to provide clothing for the "Save the Children” Campaign, wool and material being available. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £6O. Officers were elected as follows:—president, Mrs A. E. Chrisp; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. T. Lester, F. S. H. Warner, W. Huston, W. Louttit; secretary, Miss L. Dyne; assistant secretary, Mrs D. S. Read; treasurer, Mrs H. G. Banfield; committee, Mesdames E. H. Green, A. R. Pryde, J. Baird, C. Hay, Misses W. Mahar, and M. Sowden. School, Swimming Sports The annual swimming sports of the West Lyttelton School, held -at Corsair Bay, resulted as follows:—Girls: 25 yards championship: N. Cormack 1, F. Welsh 2, L.
