BOOKMAKERS’ RULES
NAME ON BACK OBLITERATED - The Press ’* Special Service WELLINGTON, March 9. The name on the back of the rules and constitution of the Dominion Sportsmen’s Association, which were handed in as part of the documents of the hearing, was obliterated at the sitting on Friday of the Gaming Commission at the suggestion of the chairman, Mr Justice Finlay. Counsel engaged consented. Mr H. H. Clegg, secretary of the association, produced the rules and constitution in the morning. “There are only two or three copies in existence and you would be surprised to know who drew it up,” he said. Mr A. T. Donnelly (senior counsel for the New Zealand Racing Conference) : I have been in racing so long that nothing surprises me. You have always been able to command good advice, I understand.
After lunch, his Honour said: There is a name on the back of the rules and constitution of the Dominion Sportsmen’s Association. Has anyone any objection to its being obliterated? It would not do for it to be published. There was no objection.
