REGENERATION IN BALMORAL STATE FOREST.—New pines are springing up rapidly in Balmoral State forest to replace those laid flat by the storms of 1945. The photograph on the left shows one of these devastated areas, which will soon be green with young trees again. The picture on the right shows an earlier example of regeneration, an almost impenetrable thicket covering 70 acres swept by fire in 1940.
