The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is «s follows: — Situation: an anti-cyclone covers the North Island. There are low pressures to the south and a cold front is advancing eastwards across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: fresh north-westerly winds Inland and moderate north-easterly winds near the coast. Weather fair to cloudy and mild. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate northerly winds predominating. Weather cloudy to overcast, with scattered rain. Temperatures mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was overcast in the morning, but fine and sunny in the afternoon. There was a moderate north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 66.1. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast with a light north-east wind. The barometer, falling, registered 29.72 in (1006.4 millibars).
