Australian Tennis Championships.— Two rising young players G. Worthington (N.S.W.) and F. Sedgman (Victoria), caused a surprise by defeating the Davis Cup squad pair, C. Long and L. Brodie (Victoria). 6-2, 11-9, 6-4, in the semi-final of the national doubles championship to-day. Worthington and Sedgman teamed perfectly and shaded their opponents at the net. In the other semi-final J. Bromwich and A. Quist (N.S.W.) beat T. Brown (U.S.A.) and W. Sidwell (N.S.W). 8-6. 6-4, 6-4. Bromwich made openings for Quist to volley and smash superbly.— Sydney, January 24.
