FORBURY PARK CLUB

TROTTING

TO-DAY’S PROSPECTS Bonny Scott’s effort to- win the Vauxhall Handicap on the first day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting was a particularly good performance, and although she has been penalised 36 yards for her success she should prove capable of taking part in the finish of the Waverley Handicap, the opening event on the programme for the concluding day of the meeting, which will be held to-day. The locally-trained Sure Maid, which was sent out favourite for the Vauxhall Handicap, never appeared likely after being well back in the early stages, and she would need to begin much better to have any chance. Port Bowen, which will start from the 12 yards mark, finished well to earn second money; and Loyal Flier, which finished in third place, showed a lot of speed over the last four furlongs. Fairy Wings has the ability to win if she would trot solidly from the start; but after her display last week she will have to be taken on chance. Jimmy Wharton, which will start from the back mark with Bonny Scott, is aquick beginner, and if C. M. Laing can get a good position with him early he may trouble Bonny Scott, Port Bowen, and Loyal Flier at the finish. An evenly-matched field of 11 horses will parade -in the Metropolitan Handi-

cap. On the first day’s form, Cameronian, Dundee Sandy. Acropolis, and Dunmore should all carry solid support. 9 Dunmore appeared the unlucky runner in the Dunedin Cup, and if G. McKendry can secure a clear run with him he should improve on his fourth placing last week. Sea Born showed a glimpse of his best form when he finished close up in fourth place in the Flying Handicap after being last into the straight on Saturday, and that form entitles him to respect in the Au Revoir Handicap, the concluding event of the meeting. Most opposition to him may come from Dundee Sandy and from Trusty Scott. AU. Scott gelding. Trusty Scptt recorded 2min 52 l-ssec when he finished in second place to Dundee Sandy in the Flying Handicap. This time is equivalent to 2min 37sec for a mile and a quarter, and on his present form he should not be long in winning a race for Mrs W. T. Lowe. Handy-sized fields are carded throughout the programme and, with the prospect of a fast track, racing should be full of interest. Horses in form include:— Waverley Handicap: Bonny Scott, Port Bowen, Loyal Flier. Stewards’ Handicap: Indigo, Peter’s Pal, Special Effort.
