HEALTH STAMP SALES
INCREASE RECORDED Health stamp sales for December amounted to £Bll6, compared with £7645 for December, 1945. In announcing this, the PostmasterGeneral (Mr F. Hackett) said that the total sales to December 31 amounted to £76,205, which is £4284 more than in the corresponding period in the preceding year. The highest sales last month were recorded in the Christchurch postal district (£1372), followed by Auckland (£1186), Wellington (£1142), Hamilton (£751), Palmerston North (£465), and Dunedin (£410). The Christchurch district with total sales of £10,384 still holds pride of place, followed by Auckland (£9064). Wellington (£8074), and Dunedin (£7677). "In buying health- stamps,” said the Minister, “people assist in restoring health to children who need health camp treatment. One-third of the value of health stamps sold goes to the health camp organisation, and the many children who will benefit will have reason to be grateful for the excellent response to this year’s appeal.
‘‘Unless sold out earlier, the stamps will remain on sale until February 28," concluded the Minister. At December 31, 84 per cent, of the stamps had been sold.
