New South Wales State Government officials believe that the Federal Government proposes to end petrol rationing on February 28. It is reported that the Federal Government is negotiating with the British Government to obtain its approval. Petrol rationing was introduced on September 1, 1940, as an emergency war measure, and Australia still receives petrol supplies from the pool controlled by the British Government. Rationing on the coupon system has been continued at the British Government’s request.to limit dollar expenditure. To enable-the abolition of rationing. Federal officials claim that a supply of 100,000 tons a month must be assured Australia.
