UNIVERSITY PRESS
RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVED When the report of the board of managers of the University Press was received by the Senate of the University of New Zealand last evening, the Pro-Chancellor (Sir James Hight) said a permanent organisation was now required. It was recommended that headquarters be in Wellington, that an editor-secretary be appointed (at first on a part-time basis and preferably a University lecturer), that a publications fund be established by • annual grant from the Senate, that authors be paid a royalty on sales (with provision for other arrangements if thought advisable), and that the colleges be asked to- contribute to maintenance costs. These were approved. The basis of financial contributions was referred to the finance committee for inquiry.
