The chairman reported that the collection of books from householders for the school library had been most satisfactory. Already more than 6(?D books had Been received at the s6hool, and the majority of these were in excellent condition snd most suitable for the purpose. Unfortunately there were not a great number received suitable for the primers and lower standards, the majority being of the type mostly in demand by Standards IV to VI. Donations in cash amounting to £4 10s had also been received.
The association had been in touch with the Society of Arts about the loan of suitable works of art to the school for educative purposes, and it was recommended that the school join in the library scheme already operated by the society, and that the headmaster be appointed to select the first group of pictures.
An address on “Reading and Remedial Reading Work in the School” was given by Mr A. B. Fordyce.
