PATRIOTIC ASSETS OVERSEAS
PLANS FOR REALISATION Ope of the main reasons for the recent overseas visit of Mr G. A. Hayden, secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board, was to discuss the realisation of the board's assets in various parts of the world. It has tveen decided that wherever possible these assets will be solo} on the spot instead of being returned to New Zealand. The board's latest bulletin states that in many cases this wiPl result in an actual profit to the board on movable equipment, but there will be a big loss on buildings. Fortunately, however, with the exception of Egypt and Bari, in Italy, very little money has been spant in buildings. All band instruments are to be returned to New Zealand because of the shortage of band equipment in this country, Mr Hayden says that the people who subscribed the funds in New Zealand for patriotic activities can rest assured that any assets of the board overseas that have a realisable value will be sold, and the money obtained from their - sale will be held in a reserve fund for expenditure on postwar welfare work through the provincial patriotic councils for returned personnel and their dependants for the next 25 to 30 years.
