UPHAM SCHOLARSHIP SUGGESTED
Tr S u r,—l J^i ce my hat off to Captain Upham, V.C. and bar, for refusing the offer to purchase a farm for him. Might I suggest that a sum be raised to provide a scholarship at, say, Christ's College or Lincoln College for a returned serviceman's child, to. commemorate Captain Upham's glorious deeds. I am sure there would be no trouble in raising a sum for this purpose. And though I do not know Captain Upham, I am prepared to start the fund with a donation of £5, which will be forwarded to any committee set up You can give my name and address to any such committee.—Yours, etc., October 27, 1945.
