Situation: There is an intense anticyclone east of the South Island, and a depression in the North Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: Moderate to fresh north-easterlies predominating. Weather overcast, with occasional rain in the fjord district, and scattered falls elsewhere. Moderate temperatures.
