LIBERATED N.Z. PRISONERS

♦ NEARLY 4000 BACK IN ENGLAND

(Rec. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 16. The repatriation of liberated New Zealand prisoners to England is going well. Practically half of the total of N.Z.E.F. men have arrived and nearly all the R.N.Z.A.F. men.

Of just under 7000 soldiers who were captured 3500 have reported to the repatriation centre in Kent, while of approximately 470 airmen taken prisoner 367 have been checked into Brighton. In one day no fewer than 670 N.Z.E.F. personnel arrived at Margate having been flown back from the Continent.

• It is difficult to estimate how long it will take for all the men to return; since there may be some delay for men who were in camps liberated by the Russians!
