PRINTING EMPLOYEES’ AWARD

A new award to cover employees in the printing trade throughout New Zealand, except in the Otago provincial district, has been issued by the Arbitration Court. It embodies wage increases agreed to by the parties in Conciliation Council. The only matter decided by the Court related to population classifications of the yarious towns, for the purposes of certain wages differentiations in the award The Court ruled that the population classification should be altered from towns with a population of 3000 and more to towns with a population of 2000 and more. The wage provisions of the award are retrospective to April 1. 1945, and the award is to continue in force until December 31, 1246.
