« _____ REPORTED RESULT OF CONFERENCES U.S. AND RUSSIA STAND FOR GOLD (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 18. The Secretary of the United States Treasury (Mr Henry Morgenthau) will inform the Senate house committees on Friday on the progress of the world currency stabilisation conferences. The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says he will report agreement on principles by international experts, a basis having been reached for a conference on a higher level. It is understood that Britain sacrificed some essential features of, the Keynes plan, especially its almost complete disregard of gold. The United States, in standing out for gold, was supported by ( Canada, South Africa, and Russia.
