VICEREGAL

The Governor-General (Sir Cyril Ne all) at Frankton Junction on Saturday alternoon presented to Mrs O. R. Duncan, of Hamilton, the Distinguished Flying Medal, awarded to her .ate nephew, Sergeant H. F. Rochford. R.N.Z.A.F. Them Excellencies, who wore attended by Captain C. J. Hol-,i.nd-Martin, A.D.C., returned to Wellington on Sunday morning from the Bay of Plenty district.—(P.A.)

Lieutenant-General E. Puttick, General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Forces, is attending the jubilee celebrations of the Waitaki Boys’ High School, of which he is a former pupil. Chaplain Major Norman Bicknell. who recently returned to New Zealand after more than three years’ service with the N.Z.E.F, in Egypt, Greece, and Libya, has now taken over his duties as secretary of the Salvation Army war services department, in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel Burton, who has given excellent service in that capacity for the last two years and who has now- retired. Mr H. D. Cooper, New Zealand Sunerintendent of Dalgety and Company, Ltd., is at present visiting Christchurch.
