WOMEN TAXI DRIVERS

Sir,—l see the Timaru Borough Council is going to interfere with the working hours of the women taxi-drivers. I advise the council to get a copy of the “Taxi-Cab Regulations,” 1939. It will see that the hours of all taxi-drivers, male or female, are stated therein and that the council cannot interfere with any driver provided he or she works within the law. and it cannot refuse to grant a taxi-driver's licence if the applicant is of good character' and passes all tests I advise the women taxi-drivers to compel the council to make a test case.—Yours, etc.. C. S. TRILLO. May 9, 1843.
