DECISIONS OF NO. 2 BOARD

An appeal by C. S. Donald for his brother, Ronald Donald (grade 1), a farm-hand, was heard yesterday at a sitting of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board, over which Mr J. S. Barnett presided. C, S. Donald said that he was in business as a (dairy farmer, a dealer in cattle and sheep, that he grazed add fattened sheep, and also bred horses. Although his breeding of horses wAS designed for the trotting track, a very large proportion of them proved unsuitable for racing and were trained for general utility purposes. The appeal was adjourned sine die. reservist to join the Home Guard. Sinclair, Melbourne, and Company appealed for the retention of the services of William Janies T. Maunder (grade 2), a turner, and stated that in doing so they had the support of the Navy Department. A representative of the firm said that during the last three or four months Maunder had been working on an average 60 to 70 hours a week. The case was adjourned sine die and reservist was exempted from Home Guard servic'd-. Appeals for a number of drivers were made by the North Canterbury Transport Company. In the cases of the following reservists, sine die adjournments were granted:—Brinsley Ernest W. Parker (3). driver; Gordon David Addie (3), driver; Arthur William Ford (T.U.), driver: Harry Raymond Hassall (1), driver; Edgar Ronald Doody (1), driver: Ronald Allen Chinnery (1), driver; Gerald Morris (1), manager: James W. The Christchurch Tramway Board appealed for the following:—Norman Clifford Hoddinott (1), adjuster; Albert Vernon Bedwell (2), assistant engineer; Harry Fisher Unwin (1), fitter; Frank Henry Nuttridge (I), acting adjuster; Leicester Samuel A. Cleland (1), conductor; William John Whitford (1), motorman; Frederick George Lee (1). motorman; Edgar Newnham George (1), motorman; Arthur Victor Eastrlck (1), motorman; James Thompson Stoddart (1), linesman; Lloyd Walter Randall (1). conductor; Tpm May (3), motorman; Peter George Keller (T.U.), motorman; Charles Sneddon R. These cases were adjourned sine die, and will be brought up again in a general review of the tramway service.
