AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY

PRODUCERS COMPLAIN OF SHORTAGE The attention of the Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. G. Sullivani is to be drawn by the North Canterbury District Council of Primary Production to “the serious shortage now existing in the South Island of agricultural machinery.” This applied, said the chairman (Mr 1, T, McMillan) at a meeting of he council in Christchurch yesterday, not only to actual machinery, but also to spare parts and extras. The time had come, he declared, when producers would welcome the relaxing of regulations covering their importation, which had been promulgated since the beginning of the war. Other delegates said, however, that the difficulty had existed before the war, and that it arose in the countries of origin, ~nd particularly in the United States

It was also suggested that a market might be found for nuts and bolts in India.
