KING’S BIRTHDAY
LONDON, December 14. The King to-day spent his fortysixth birthday in the country with the Queen and the Princesses. His Majesty received messages of congratulation from Mr Roosevelt, Mr Churchill. fTie Lord Mayor of London, and the Governors of the Dominions and Colonies, Their Majesties attended divine service in the morning. In his reply to the Lord Mayor of London. His Majesty said that he knew full well that whatever trials lay before London, the spirit shown in the cruel attacks last winter would bring the city through undaunted to happier times ahead. Their Majesties have made a Christmas gift of 1700 books to prisoners-of-war camps in Germany and Italy.
