ENEMY ALIENS

INTERNMENT URGED ON GOVERNMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 14, Because of the gravity of the war situation and the imminent threat to this country, the Pahiatua branch of the Returned Services’ Association has urged the Government to take immediate steps to intern all enemy aliens or persons uttering subversive or disloyal statements or refusing to work wholeheartedly in the defence of the country. The branch has also urged the Government to appoint local committees in each centre to advise the manpower committees and Armed Forces Appeal Boards on the merits of each application, and to make service in the Home Guard or Emergency Precautions Services compulsory fo* all males of the ages of 16 to 60.
