The Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) will arrive in Invercargill to-day. He will address the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce to-morrow and will return north on Friday. Mr A. R. Smith, postmaster at St. Albans, is to be transferred to the position of supervisor of the postal branch at Invercargill, in place of Mr J. O’Brien, who was recently promoted to the position of senior supervisor, Invercargill.

Mr E. Hitchcock, general manager of the Municipal Electricity Department and district lighting controller arrived from the north by the steamer express yesterday morning.

Mr J, G. Lamb, of 15 Thorrington road, Cashmere, has received advice by reply cable through the Red Cross that his son, John Lamb, is a prisoner of war in Bolzano, Italy.
