FOOD SUPPLIES FOR BRITAIN
* (8.0. W.) RUGBY, November 2. Broadcasting on the forthcoming rationing scheme for new supplies of certain canned foods, the Minister for Food (Lord Woolton) warned listeners against thinking that the new supplies meant that Britain was going to live luxuriously during the third year of the war. "We most certainly are not,” he said. "We shall all have enough food to keep healthy, but there will be ups and downs. Ships will be sunk, and tne troops ovefseas will have to be taken care of, but we will get along. Our stocks are good.’’ Lord Woolton paid a tribute to the British farmers’ work in keeping up the milk supply and helping to build up reserves of wheat. “Inere is no shortage of bread here,” he added.
