REMARKS ON TEACHINGS OF CHRIST
QUESTION ASKED IN THE HOUSE
(P.R.) WELLINGTON, August 21. After quoting remarks reported to have been made by Mr T. P. McCready, a member of the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board, Mr J. A. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey'Lynn), on behalf of the Hon. W. E. Barnard (Democratic Labour, Napier) asked in the House to-day if the Government was satisfied that one holding such views was fairly capable of weighing up and deciding upon objections for which Christian grounds were alleged. “If not, will the Government replace Mr McCfeady -by a citizen who is more suitable for a judicial position on the board?” asked Mr Lee, whose question, was addressed to the ActingPrirtie Minister (the Hon. W. Nash).
The Minister’s attention was drawn to the following statement by Mr Mc.Cready: “If Christ were to come on earth to-day, I believe He would rewrite His teachings in the light of this modem age. I think the. teachings are a little out of date, as they were written nearly 2000 years ago;” :
