-—-♦ —- PILOT INJURED AEROPLANE CRASH NEAR BLENHEIM (P.A.) BLENHEIM, August 19. Leading Aircraftsman Jack Polkinghorne, of Wellington, was seriously injured when a light monoplane crashed during night-flying operations at Woodbourne, about 9.30 last night. The accident occurred a mile north-west of the aerodrome. ■ . The pilot, who was flying solo, suffered a broken leg and arm, and . extensive abrasions. . The machine was badly wrecked. The cause of the crash is not known, and a Court of Inquiry will be held. : SKATER INJURED Philip Francis Map'les, a student, aged 17, of 154 Clyde road, fell over while skating yesterday afternoon, and was admitted to hospital with injuries to his left arm. 1 ' ■ MOTOR-CYCLIST HURT lan Wilson, aged 20, a hotel porter, received a wound in the head and a fractured forearm when his motorcycle collided with a Christchurch Tramways bus at the corner of Stanmore road and Cashel street about 3.30 p.m. yesterday. He was admitted to hospital, but his condition is satisfactory.
