OFFICIAL FORECASTS (P.S.S.) WELLINGTON, August 19. The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 v.m. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Moderate to strong southwesterly winds. Weather still unsettled and cold, with some further rain. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh south-easterly or southerly winds prevailing. Weather fair and cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was overcast yesterday with a moderate south-west wind. There were occasional showers. The maximum temperature was 46.2 degrees. At 1 o'clock this' morning the sky was overcast and a light southwest breeze was blowing. Light •rain was falling. The barometer was steady at 29.87 in (1011.5 millibars). .
