ANNUAL MEETING HELD
Authority was given to the librarian (Mr E. J. Bell), at the third annual meeting of the Christchurch and Suburban Public Schools’ Library Association. .to, spend up to £2O on reference books, the schools to be invited to indicate their preferences. Difficulties in obtaining suitable books for the school service were mentioned by Mr Bell in his annual report Books had been lost by enemy action at sea, but in spite of .this 1080 volumes had been added, of which 280 were non-fiction, The inclusion of •Standard 111 children had created a problem, and books had to be hurriedly obtained from other centres, Eighteen schools were now being served.' Reports showed that 34,002 volumes had been exchanged during the year—-9433 non-fiction and 24,569 fiction.
Mr C. S. Thompson presided. 'Messrs A. Hudson (Linwood Avenue), C. S. Cooper (Beckenham), and A. Florence, (North Brighton) were elected school committee representatives. ■_
