The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate and variable winds, with south-westerlies freshening at times. Weather fair to cloudy, with a few isolated showers still likely about the high country and about Banks Peninsula. Temperatures moderate. Seas moderate. YEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds. Weather cloudy* with occasional drizzle or rain. Moderate temperatures. Seas rather rough. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is;— Further rain In Westland, Southland, and on the Otago coast. Scattered showers still likely in and west of the North Island ranges. Elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures cool in the south and moderate elsewhere. Winds—Moderate to strong southwesterly. with local gales still likely south of Dunedin., .... Seas (New Zealand waters)— Moderate inshore on the east coast north of the Otago peninsula, otherwise rough. Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong southwesterly winds. Rough seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was overcast yesterday with a light north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 51.8 degrees.
