ANOTHER CENTURY BY J. COLOMBUS After his success of the previous week. J. Colombus scored 125 in a brilliant innings against Working Men's Club at Linwood Park, hitting two sixes and 17 fours out of an Innings total of 205 for the loss of seven wickets. Working Men's Club made 13(1. Waltham batted slowly at Waltham Park to make 155 against Spreydon, who, at stumps, had lost four wickets for 33. Shirley batted poorly at Richmond Domain. where the wicket was very tricky, and were all out for 62. W. Bampton, 36 not out, being the only batsman to reach double figures. BOYS’ ASSOCIATION SOME KEEN CONTESTS On Saturday the eighth round of the Canterbury Boys' Cricket Association’s competition was played, most of the games being very keenly contested. Centuries were scored by E. H. Richards (Medbury) and J. MacGregor (St. Andrew's). B. Jones (High School) and K. Sharp (Christ's College) secured "hat-tricks," the latter boy registering the unusual feat of taking four wickets with successive balls. WOMEN’S GAMES SECOND ROUND PLAYED The creditable effort of the promoted Hillsborough team in Its first senior grade match, against St. Albans, and the reversal of form shown by Beckenham against Technical, were features of the second round of women’s cricket matches on Saturday. Playing iSt. Albans, last year’s championship winner, the Hillsborough team lost on the first innings by only 14 runs. Forceful batting by the more experienced members of the Beckenham team and an unusually large number of extras, gave the side a total of 112 in the match against Technical. In spite of a good innings for 50 not out by Z. Hocking, Technical was still 18 runs behind with seven wickets in hand at the close of play. The match was drawn.
