MISS LILIAN JEFFREYS’S address Miss Lilian Jeffreys spoke to the Society for Imperial Culture on Saturday Evening on “Arab Life. Dr. J. was in the chair. Miss Jeffreys dealt with the jarious elements in the complex life of .Syria and adjacent countries, and the of ideas, creeds and social and gave an illuminating account of the daily life and occupations of the people, iHustratingthese with photographs, models and ex amples of native craftsmanship. The lecturer referred to the unwillingness of the Arabs to depart from age long methods and traditions and the consequent friction produced by the more . efficient and . energetic methods introduced by Zionist settlers. . . „ _ During the evening, piano solos were given by Miss M. Qlliyier and a performance of Dvorak s Quintet m A major by Miss Bessie Pollard, Miss Irene Morris, Miss Thelma Cusack, Miss Noel, Gape Williamson .and Mr Moon,- A vote of. thanks to the lecturer, and musicians was moved by Mr E. G. T. Thomas. . ’
