ASSESSMENT COURT PRESIDENT

APPOINTMENT FOB MR A. A- M’LACHLAN

Members of the Canterbury District Law Society attended a sitting of the Assessment Court yesterday morning to congratulate Mr A, A. McLachlan on his appointment to the position of president of the Court „ The president of the society (Mr -J. D. Godfrey) said the appointment had met with general approval in Christchurch, not only because Mr McLachlan was popular, but also because all were confident that the work of the Court would be done efficiently. As chairman of one of the Adjustment Commissions, Mr McLachlan had given, satisfaction to those who appeared before him. Mr E. Eggleston (district valuer) and Mr P. W. Johnston also congratulated Mr McLachlan. *■ Mr EgSleston said that valuers in the. Dominion were pleased with, the appointment, because they knew the new president would always do justice to the cases he heard.
