BOROUGH COUNCIL AT NEW BRIGHTON

NO ACTION TO BE TAKEN ON MILK PROPOSAL The Mayor (Mr E. L. Smith) presided at a meeting of the New ' Brighton Borough Council last evening. Crs. J. S. Ainsworth, J. N. Clarke, W. E. Wilkins, H. R. Macdonald. W. E. S. Furby, A. W. Owles, T. E. Thomson, W. :T. Glasgow, and C. V. Lester, were also present. It was decided to send letters of congratulations to the New Brighton team on winning the Canterbury Rugby Union’s junior championship, and to Miss Marriott on winning the New Zealand women’s miniature rifle championship. It was decided to receive a deputation from the Canterbury Hockey Association at the next meeting to discuss the playing areas in the Pacific street North Beach reserve. A letter was received from the Sumner Borough Council inviting representatives to attend a conference to discuss the ’ Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Act. It was decided in- view of the nearness of amalgamation that no action be taken at present.
