The barometer was fairly steady with the reading at 5 pjn. 29.44 inches (997 millibars). Wellington—Yesterday was overcast and mild, with slight fain in the early morning and a light north-west breeze all day which decreased in the evening. The maximum temperature was 56.2 degrees. At 6 p.m. the temperature was 50.2 degrees, and the barometer at (996.7 millibars) 29.43 inches. Dunedin—Misty rain yesterday accompanied a light north-east breeze. The sun did’ not shine although conditions showed some improvement in the early afternoon. The maximum temperature was 49 degrees. The barometer was falling at 29.45 inches at 5 P.m.
