The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), accompanied by members of the Cabinet, members of Parliament, and departmental officials, yesterday inspected road works in the Ngahauranga Gorge and along the coast to Paekakariki.—Press Association. Officers elected at the biennial conference of the United Ancient Order of Druids, North Island, which concluded yesterday, were;— Grand president, Mr H. S. Abel, Wellington; junior past grand president, Mr A. L. Williams, Petone; grand vice-president, Mr H. L. Harker, Wairoa; grand guardian, Mr N. Ramsbottom, Patea.—Press Association. The appointment of the following members of the Cawthron Trust Board is gazetted:— Messrs C. Milner, A. Rowling, and C. F. Skinner. Professor H. G. Denham, of Canterbury University College, returned to Christchurch from the north by the steamer express yesterday morning. Sir H. Lindo Ferguson was a passenger on the steamer express from the north yesterday morning. Dr. R. R. D, Milligan returned to Christchurch from the North Island by the steamer express yesterday morning. Mr J. A. Redpath arrived yesterday morning from the north by the steamer express. Mr G. R. Ritchie, a director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., was a passenger on the steamer express from the north yesterday morning.
