ADDRESS ON CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT

CANTERBURY INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES The early history and also the growth of the Customs Department in New Zealand were surveyed by Mr G. J. Woodham in an address at a luncheon of the Canterbury chapter of the New Zealand Institute of Secretaries yesterday. During his address, Mr Woodham mentioned various acts which had brought alterations to tariffs, and he explained reciprocal tariffs, specific duties, and other phases of customs work.

The speaker was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion of Mr E. C. Rawnsley. The chapter chairman (Mr A. E. G. Lyttle) presided.
