PIPE BAND CONTEST

CHAMPIONSHIP TO BEGIN TO-MORROW Keen interest is being shown in the Dominion pipe bands’ championship contest which will begin to-morrow at the Addington Showgrounds. Already several of the North Island bands have made their appearance on the streets, and tartans of jail clans are visible everywhere. The quickstep for both A and B grade bands should prove a very popular event and should, be most interesting because of the ■ variety of uniforms. This will take, place on Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. the spectacular drum-majors’ display will be held. Both the quickstep and display are expected to draw very large crowds. There will be no seats available on the oval to allow everyone to get a clear view of the bands. Morning and afternoon tea, ice-cream, and the usual booth facilities will be availabe on the grounds.
