KING’S MESSAGE READ AT - OPENING SYDNEY, January 1. ; With nearly 11,000 boy scout* standing before him the Governor- . General (Lord Gowrie) to-day officially opened the seventh World Scout Jamboree. The ceremony at Bradfield was seen by 50,000 people. Lord Gowrie inspected a guard pf honour drawn from the various contingents in camp. He read a mes-. sage from the King, who sent his best wishes and trusted that the boys would do their -utmost live - up to scout traditions. His Majesty added that it was in their hands to : do much to help towards the pew* of the world. A message from Lord Baden . Powell was also read during the afternoon. Visitors saw display* hf the scouts.
