OPERA BROADCAST

TO TH* EDITOR OT TH* PRESS Sir,— On Sunday night, listeners-in to 3YA were given Act 1 of Mozart’s opera, “Don Giovanni.” This was pleasingly annotated, and the whole presentation was admirable. If other lis-teners-in were like myself, they were anxious to know when Act II would be put over the air. They were not disappointed. The announcer blandly informed listeners that Act II could be heard on June 25 from Station IYA. I have not yet heard anything so fantastic in programme arrangements, and that is surglv saying a good deal in New Zealand. Does the National Broadcasting Service attribute to listeners musical memories that excel Toscanini’s? Or perhaps the National Broadcasting Service is allowing plenty of time for this good fare to sink in. —Yours, etc., ’ R, E. McLAY. January 2, 1939.
