ANNUAL TOURNEY CONCLUDED GOOD SCORING AT SHIRLEY TIES IN BOTH EVENTS The Christchurch Club’s course, at Shirley, continued to be in excellent condition for the final day of the club’s Christmas tournament on Saturday. The day’s events were a bogey handicap played in the morning and a foursome bogey handicap in the afternoop. The scoring generally was of a high standard, the scores of the winners in each event being very sound. With scores of 1 up, C. J. Ward and F. S. Grant tied for the bogey handicap, Ward being declared the winner on the count back.
The foursome bogey handicap in the afternoon also involved the morning winners in a tie. Ward and Grant, who were partnered respectively by Sir Cyril Ward and O. A. Y. Johnston. Grant and Johnston won on the count back.
At the conclusion of the day’s play, Jthe captain of the club, Sir Cyril Ward, presented the prizes and complimented the various staffs on the manner in which they had combined to make the tournament successful. Results:—
