RADIOLOGIST AND RADIOTHERAPIST APPOINTED

AUCKLAND. April 12. The full-time positions of radiologist and radio-therapist at the Auckland Hospital were filled by the Hospital Board at a special meeting by the appointment respectively of Dr. C., D. Costello, radiologist at the New Plymouth Hospital, and Dr. G. R, Nolan, assistant radiologist . at the Christie Hospital and Hold Radium Institute. Withington, Manchester. The two posts, which carry salaries of £IOOO rising in two yearly Increments to £I2OO, bacame vacant recently through the resignation of the full-time radiologist Dr. W. W. Main, and the death of Dr. Neil McDougall, who was parttime radio-therapist to the hospital. The positions were advertised in New Zealand, Australia, and Great Britain, and the appointments were made by the board on the recommendation of the house committee, which co-optetd Dr, Main and Dr. Bruce Mackenzie, who are temporarily carrying on the X-ray work of the hospital on a part-time basis. Eight applications for the position of radiologist were received, including one from South Africa, and one from Shanghai, which arrived too late to be considered. There were six applications for the other position.
