AUCKLAND GAMING CHARGE (rasas abiociatiox tsisoxax.) AUCKLAND, April 11. After a search by police of premises at 11 Commerce street, Douglas Hipkins, aged 45, a tobacconist, was fined £IOO, in default six weeks* imprisonment, for using the premises as a common gaming house. The police said that when arrested, Hipkins 1- d £97 in his possession. He had been before the Court previously, but not for the last three years. The Magistrate (Mr W. R. McKean, S.M.): I suppose you have been carrying on the business of a bookmaker ever since. Have you? Hipkins: Part of the time.
