WEATHER REPORT

OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, April 11. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows:

light to moderate, but freshentngr winds, north-easterlies prevailing on the coast, and northwesterlies inland. Weather fair to fine and mild. Seas rough north of Kaikoura, elsewhere slight to moderate.

WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:—

Moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather becoming cloudy to overcast, and some rain probable. Temperatures mild. Seas moderate, but increasing somewhat.

DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:—

Weather for the most part fair to fine, and mild; but some scattered light rains probable in the extreme north, and later scattered rains developing in western and southern districts of the South Island.

An anti-cyclone is now centred east of the North Island. Pressure Is relatively low over southeastern Australia, and the first of a series of shallow westerly depressions is commencing to cross the South Island.

Winds—Variable, with north-east to north-west predominating, light to moderate mainly, but strong at times in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas.

Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rather rough to rough at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits, rather rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate.

Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong north-easterly winds, and rather rough seas in the northern portion, moderate north to west winds and moderate seas in the southern portion.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

The sun shone throughout the day in Christchurch yesterday. The wind in the morning was a light northeasterly, and a very light northeasterly breeze blew in the afternoon. The maximum temperature during the day was 7J.1 degrees. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was no wind. The temperature was 52 degrees. The barometer, falling, registered 30.14 in.

IN OTHER PLACES

Auckland—The weather was fine but cloudy, with a moderate north-east wind. The maximum temperature .was 72 decrees. The barometer fell slightly, the ! pm. reading being 30:30 inches. Wellington—The weather was cloudy at times; otherwise fine and mild, with a moderate to fresh north-westerly breeze. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 48.7 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 66.1. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer registered 30.216 inches.

Dunedin—The sun shone brightly yesterday. There was no. wind in tne morning, but in the afternoon there was a light north-easterly. The maximum temperature was 66 degrees. The barometer fell to 30.20 inches, but rose again later.
