THE CANTERBURY REGATTA
SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE REVIEWED
The success of the Canterbury Regatta at Lyttelton in February is regarded as a happy omen lor the committee which is endeavouring to restore this annual fixture to the importance it occupied in the eyes of sportsmen and the general public years ago. At a general meeting of the Canterbury Regatta Committee last evening the chairman, Mr R. A. Beveridge, said there was no doubt that the regatta would be held again next year. Mr Beveridge reviewed the committee's work for the year, and said that a credit balance of £2l was shown in the statement of accounts. He warmly praised the courtesy of the Lyttelton Harbour Board and the railway authorities in assisting in the conduct of the regatta. The meeting took the form of a social gathering, and there were about 80 present The prizes were presented by the chairman. . Mr C. H.
